Building Better Reading Through Personalized Digital Text
Friday, April 8, 2022, 1:00 – 3:00 PM Eastern
Reading is on the cusp of a revolution! Small typographical changes to text format (font, size and spacing) can maximize a person’s ability to read quickly and accurately, and comprehend more. Digital reading allows the shift from what is best for the population to what is best for the individual reader. (https://bit.ly/Skoll-Readability) Research carried out by the speakers shows the remarkable promise of personalized reading formats for all readers – young and old, proficient and struggling. Children can gain 20% in both speed and comprehension and adults as much as 10 pages per hour. It is time to put research into practice. We hope to lean on you all – the most creative and entrepreneurial community – to discuss scaling this innovation. Workshops on Education (K-12, adult literacy, learning differences) and Business Use include Lightning Talks and brainstorming. Each will report to the entire group; together, we will create an action plan to make each reader the best reader they can be.
